Bawaslu Bogor decides Anies' two fingers pose case today

REPUBLIKA.CO.ID, JAKARTA -- Chairman of Election Supervisory Body (Bawaslu) of Bogor Regency Irvan Firmansyah said the status of the alleged campaign violation involving Jakarta Governor Anies Baswedan will be decided on Friday (Jan 11). If it meets criminal elements, the case can be proceed to the investigation phase to the police, otherwise it will be dismissed.

Bawaslu Bogor has conducted an internal study on the case. Furthermore, the agency to conduct a second discussion together with the center of integrated law enforcement (Gakkumdu).

"The status of this case will be decided tomorrow," Irvan said when confirmed by reporters on Thursday (Jan 10).

If Anies's fingers pose did not fulfill criminal elements, then the case will be stopped, Irvan stated. He added that the status of this case would then be submitted to Bawaslu of West Java and Bawaslu Republic of Indonesia.

To explained his gesture, Anies has met the summon of Bawaslu Bogor at the office of Bawaslu RI, at Jl Thamrin, in Central Jakarta, on Monday (Jan 7). He denied that his two fingers pose at the National Conference of Gerindra Party in Sentul, Bogor Regency on December 17 was a form of campaign.

During the Gerindra event, Anies was seen showing his index finger and thumb while delivering his speech. He explained that the those two fingers pose did not intended to show support to presidential candidate number 02 as it was not the usual finger pose for Prabowo Subianto-Sandiaga Uno pair.

"The presidential candidates number 02 always use index and middle fingers," Anies remarked in Bawaslu office, Central Jakarta, on Monday (Jan 7).
