REPUBLIKA.CO.ID, JAKARTA --Coordinating Minister for Politics, Law and Security Affairs Wiranto was surprised by the statement of presidential candidate number 02, Prabowo Subianto, about the prediction of Indonesia's extinction. Jokingly, he invited Prabowo to bet a private house to prove his statement.
"It's a serious threat," Wiranto said at his office, Jakarta, on Tuesday (Dec 18).
Wiranto explained, no records in modern history and in democratic elections that a country is no longer exist when its presidential candidate lost the election. A country could not be ruined in a sudden as threats against the country escalate seriously.
"As Coordinating Minister for Politics, Law and Security Affairs, I guarantee that Indonesia is currently in a good condition," he reiterated.
Meanwhile, Indonesian Work Coalition National Campaign Team (TKN KIK) said Prabowo always exaggerated things. Deputy Chairperson of KIK TKN Abdul Kadir Karding said that Prabowo and his followers are the messy ones.
Karding said that the country would not move forward or even move backwards if it was led by Prabowo. According to Karding, he made the conclusion after looking at Prabowo's life history which he assessed had never been successful.
"Prabowo has no proud achievements except for many bad ones," Karding said.
Furthermore, Karding asked the opposition not to always bring an aura of pessimism to the Indonesian people. He stated that statements should be delivered using concrete and real data, not fake or false data.
"That is what I think must be understood by the people of Indonesia," he asserted.
Meanwhile, Deputy Chief of the Advisory Board of the National Winning Team (BPN) of Prabowo-Sandiaga Salahuddin Uno, Hidayat Nur Wahid believed that was not the real meaning of Prabowo's statement. He got the impression that some parties concluded Prabowo wanted Indonesia to vanish if he lost the election.
"I believe that is not what he meant," Hidayat said in Parliament complex, Senayan, Jakarta, on Tuesday.
Previously, Prabowo said that he was disappointed with the political elite who often gave wrong direction for the country. He conveyed it while delivering a political speech at the Gerindra Party National Conference (Konfernas) at the Sentul International Convention Center (SICC), Bogor, Monday (Dec 17).
In his speech, the former secretary general of Kopassuss said if the wrong system continues to be carried out, it will make Indonesia a weak country. Furthermore, it would potentially make Indonesia weak, poor, helpless and eventually extinct.
