REPUBLIKA.CO.ID, JAKARTA -- Anti narcotic squad of the Indonesian police shot dead two alleged members of drug syndicate of Malaysia-Batam-Jakarta, who tried to escape. One of the two suspects was a Malaysian.

"The law officers were forced to act firmly on the two suspects Sujanto and Chen Gen Wen as they resisted arrest and tried to escape," Deputy Director of Narcotic Criminal Act of the Police Criminal Investigation Agency Sr.Com. Krisno Halomoan Siregar said here on Monday.

Police received information from the community about traffic of drugs from Malaysia. After around a month of investigations, police arrested two suspects Sujanto and Eric Cantona when they were about to sell methamphetamine to Michael at Jalan dr. Susilo, Grogol, West Jakarta on Nov. 27, 2018.

Police confiscated 11.154 kilograms of methamphetamine from the two suspects. Police then moved to raid the house rented by Sujanto at Jalan Muwardi I, West Jakarta and found 6.5 kilogram of the drug. Police also raided the rented house of Michael at Semanan Indah, Kalideres, West Jakarta and found 15.279 kg of the same type of drug.

The Malaysian Chen Gen Wen was picked by police from Hotel C'One, Pulo Gadung, East Jakarta and confiscated 5.593 kg of methamphetamine from his room. From interrogation of Sujanto, it was known that the drug was smuggled from Malaysia to the country via Tanjung Priok port.

When asked to show details of the drug syndicate at Tanjung Priok, Sujanto tried to escape and police fired a shot that killed him. Chen Gen Wen was also killed when police had to shoot him on the way to Purwakarta to show other suspects still at large. Chen tried to escape before reaching Purwakarta.
