BPN clarifies Prabowo's statement on Palestine

Prabowo is on Palestinian side, BPN says.

REPUBLIKA.CO.ID, JAKARTA — National Winning Agency (BPN) or Prabowo Subianto - Sandiaga Uno success team spokesman, Andre Rosiade clarified Prabowo’s statement that said he did not question Australia’s plan to move its embassy office in Israel from Tel Aviv to Jerusalem. Andre denied the statement means Prabowo only respects Australian Government and does not support Palestinian independence.

“Mr Prabowo is trying to respect Australia and it has no relation with his stance on Palestine, there is no doubt on his support to Palestine,” Andre said on Friday (Nov 23).

Andre asserted presidential candidate Prabowo and also his running mate Sandiaga are clearly support Palestinian independence. According to him, the pair has also criticized Israel’s move in relocating its capital from Tel Aviv to Jerusalem.

So far, Andre said Prabowo actively voiced Palestinian independence and attended various actions in support of Palestine. Prabowo also contributed to the Palestine defense rally.

“So it’s clear, Mr Prabowo is sided to Palestine,” Andre added.

Earlier, Prabowo gave statement that he did not want to interfere Australia Government’s plan to move its embassy office in Israel from Tel Aviv to Jerusalem. His statement came after attending Indonesia Economic Forum event on last Wednesday (Nov 21).

“We as Palestinian supporters have our own opinion, but Australia is also an independent and sovereign country so we must respect their sovereignty," Prabowo said.
