KPAI to help trauma healing of deadly duel perpetrator

REPUBLIKA.CO.ID, TASIKMALAYA — Indonesian Child Protection Commission (KPAI) planned to take steps to heal trauma of a boy who became perpetrator in a deadly duel case in Garut, West Java. The institution commited to provide assistance to the child during the trauma healing process.

“Assistance is a form of rescue, advocacy to be done later as child-friendly policy at school, and also in the social environment, and home,” said KPAI commissioner Erlinda on Wednesday (July 25).

Erlinda asserted that KPAI would encourage local agency to facilitate the trauma healing process for child perpetrator if no place available. She expected that the commission in Tasikmalaya can backup the location temporarily.

KPAI expected to reveal the factors that affect child who committed violence. However, the institution would ask permission from the the child’s parent first.

“If there’s permission from parent, we will foster,” Erlinda added.

KPAI also guaranteed legal counselling for the child perpetrator. A sixth grade elementary school in Garut district initial FNM died. He allegedly killed after a fight with his classmate, known with his initials HKM.

“HKM lost his book and found it under FNM desk. He accused FNM stole it and fight until FNM died,” Cikajang Police chief Cecep Bambang on Tuesday (July 24).
