REPUBLIKA.CO.ID, JAKARTA -- Democratic Party general chairman and also former president Susilo Bambang Yudhoyono (SBY) reminded Presidential Expert Staff official and Golkar Party politician Ali Mochtar Ngabalin to be careful in giving statement. He criticized the statement that said SBY should ask permission from President Joko Widodo (Jokowi) if his party does not support the incumbent in 2019 presidential election.
“I don’t have to ask for permission from Jokowi because SBY isn’t his subordinate and Democratic Party is not part of Jokowi coalition. We respect each other. Ngabalin should mind his words,” said SBY on Wednesday (July 25).

SBY also said that Jokowi is not the figure that hinders coalition between Democratic Party and the government coalition. He asserted their relationship is good.
“There’s a barrier to build coalition with Jokowi, but it was not about Jokowi. Insya Allah (God’s will) our relationship is good,” SBY added.

Furthermore, SBY also denied the statement that came from United Development Party (PPP) chairman M Romahurmuziy. Previously, Romahurmuziy stated that Democratic Party did not want to join Jokowi coalition following the failure to meet their demand related to vice-presidential post. SBY expected Romahurmuziy to be careful in making statement.
Earlier, Democratic Party and Gerindra Party have agreed to open the path to coalse. Gerindra Party chief patron Prabowo Subianto said the two parties have good chemistry. "We will have another meeting," he said after meeting SBY on Tuesday.
Meanwhile, SBY said the result of his meeting with Prabowo will be conveyed to the ranks of the Democratic Party's High Assembly as the highest forum of his party that would take coalition decision.
