REPUBLIKA.CO.ID, SURABAYA -- Gibran Rakabuming Raka, the eldest son of President Joko Widodo, opined that selling rujak cingur, a traditional salad with peanut sauce, can be a successful culinary business. After attending the "Casual Chatting" event organized by the University of Surabaya, Gibran said that selling rujak cingur can be a successful culinary business as long as the package is attractive.
"Yes, selling rujak cingur can be a hit culinary business. The important aspect is packaging," he emphasized on Saturday.
Gibran often ate rujak cingur, especially when he visited Surabaya. Gibran pointed out that rujak in Surabaya and Solo are different, especially in terms of the sauce and filling.
At the event, Gibran shared tips on becoming entrepreneurs with students in Surabaya. He explained that having belief in one's ideas and not being afraid to start a new venture were essential while starting a business.
"The most important aspect is confidence. Before selling a product, we must first conduct market research. It aims to gauge the type of product that the people want and need," he noted.
Gibran is known as an entrepreneur, who has been successful in several of his business ventures: Chilipari, Markobar, and convection businesses.
