REPUBLIKA.CO.ID, JAKARTA -- Chairman of the Board of Experts of Golkar Party Agung Laksono paid a visit to Corruption Eradication Commission (KPK) on Thursday. He was summoned to testify for suspect Fredrich Yunadi (FY) in obstruction of justice of e-ID graft case. Nevertheless, Agung refused to be a witness.

"He was proposed by suspect FY as a relieving witness," KPK spokesperson, Febri Diansyah said to Republika.co.id via text message, on Thursday.

Febri said, based on Criminal Code, a suspect has the rights to file relieving witness. But, KPK could not forced Agung to meet the suspect's request. "We also did not know the correlation between them," Febri remarked.

According to Agung, he came only to show respect to the anti-graft institution. He claimed not willing to provide information because he did not know Fredrich before. "I do not know him personally. I met him when visiting Setya Novanto at Medika Permata Hijau hospital on November 16, 2016 for about an hour," he explained after meeting KPK investigators.

Beside that, Agung did not want to be involved in Fredrich's case. He has conveyed his stance to the investigators. "I'm not involved and do not want to get involved in this case," Agung reiterated.

Fredrich shared the same fate as the other suspect, Bimanesh Sutarjo in finding a relieving witness. On Wednesday, three doctors declined to meet KPK summons to testify for their fellow colleague who treated Novanto as inpatient at Medika Permata Hijau hospital.

Bimanesh asked KPK to present Professor Zubairi Djoerban who chairs the Indonesian Medical Association - Advisory Council, Professor Budi Sampoerna and doctor Prasetyono who represent forensic doctors of University of Indonesia as witnesses. Febri said, the doctors wanted to keep their independency. They were involved in a team to examine whether Bimanesh has conducted violation against medical ethics.

Bimanesh along with Fredrich, former Setya Novanto's lawyer, had allegedly conspired to manipulate Novanto's medical records. KPK said, both of them made arrangement for Novanto to be hospitalized following a minor car accident in November 2017 so Novanto could miss KPK summons in a high profile e-ID card graft case.

Bimanesh and Fredrich was named suspect on January 10. Bimanesh was detained since January 12 in the State Class First Detention Center East Jakarta KPK branch located in Pomdam Jaya Guntur. Meanwhile, Fredrich was detained at the State First Class Detention Center of East Jakarta KPK Branch since January 13.

Bimanesh and Fredrich are suspected to violate Article 21 No. 31/1999 as amended by Law No. 20/2001 on Eradication of Corruption. Also they violated Article 55 paragraph (1) of the Criminal Code.
