Court sets free alleged rapist, IPNU disappointed

REPUBLIKA.CO.ID, SUKABUMI -- Cibadak District Court in Sukabumi, West Java has decided to free the defendant of child abuse early this year, on last January 4. The criminal case that registered with No. 341/ Pid.Sus/ 2017 / PN.Cbd involved BS as the perpetrator.

The defendant was allegedly raped RO (14) a junior high school student who lived in Sukabumi. The court decision has made many parties feel disappointed, one of them is Islamic Mass Organizations.

"We ask Cibadak District Court to uphold justice with fairness, which is more pressing on substance of justice than legal procedural justice," chairman of Nahdlatul Ulama Association Students (IPNU) Sukabumi, Maulanda Zuama on Sunday (January 14).

NU to hold solidarity action at Cibadak District Court on Monday (January 15). They planned to convey that the perpetrators of sexual abuse must be dealt firmly because the crime is not only damage the moral order, but also human life.

Moreover, Lieu of Law (Perrpu) No. 1/2016 on Child Protection already stated that the perpetrators of sexual crimes against children are sentenced to a maximum of fifteen years imprisonment and fine Rp 5 billion.

Maulanda said IPNU considered the violence that experienced by women is an emergency situation and should be see by many parties. The solidarity action to Cibadak District Court will be followed by not only IPNU, but also NU Women's Student Association and supported by 10 mass organizations in Sukabumi.
