REPUBLIKA.CO.ID, JAKARTA –- Member of Toll Road Regulatory Agency (BPJT) Kuncahyo Pambudi said the implementation of non-cash payment on toll road can be applied 100 percent by the end of October. Neverthless, he said the gate for cash transaction will still be available.

He explained, this non-cash movement has been socialized since 2008 along with Bank Mandiri. Regarding the urge not to reject cash payment, Kuncahyo asserted toll road management had anticipated it.

He pointed out that non-cash payment has been applied at Semanggi 1 toll in South Jakarta.

However, consumer who prefer to pay by cash, can enter at the next gate. ''There is still a choice of options for cash payments. So God willing, we deal with this transaction well, '' he said at the Office of the Ombudsman, Jakarta, Wednesday (September 27).

But he emphasized that non-cash application can create efficiency. Because all this time, every day, every substation need two boxes of Rp 500 for change. Because using a multiple of Rp 1,000 is not allowed.

Furtherrmore, by using cash payment, the transaction would only take five seconds. Transactions with refunds can be seven seconds, resulting in a total of 12 seconds.

Meanwhile, by tapping e-money card, it would only take three seconds.

''So we can reduced the queue. Because we are in Jabodetabek almost all toll roads that volume has exceeded capacity. So that includes solutions that are in line with the BI (Bank Indonesia) program, '' Kuncahyo said.
