REPUBLIKA.CO.ID, BOGOR -- President Joko Widodo (Jokowi) said that Indonesia has been experiencing an excessive democracy. "This might generate on liberalism, radicalism, sectarianism, and terrorism, and other believes which was contrary to the ideology of Pancasila," said Jokowi in the inauguration of Hanura Party officials in Bogor on Wednesday (Feb 22).

Jokowi noticed the democracy has turned into excessive freedom within the last four to five months. It showed that all element of the nation should improve the national harmony. He said the Indonesian people should understand the national concept that Indonesia is a plural and diverse country.

He argued that the diversity of Indonesia was the national identity and entity. It has been blended to be a part of the society and became the simbol of harmony.

According to Jokowi, the racial politization which currently whack many parties was a part of lack of understanding in diversity. ‎The real impact of this issue was the spread of slanders, lies, curses, and blasphemies. "If this condition continued it would led to a national disunity," said Jokowi.

In fact, there was a more important thing to do by the government to keep people's welfare. "The key of excessive democracy is law enforcement. The law enforcers should be firm, do not be in doubt. Do not make us to continuously become like this, so we forget our economic problems," he said.
