National Police Chief bans police personnel playing Pokemon Go

REPUBLIKA.CO.ID, JAKARTA - National police chief Gen. Tito Karnavian has ordered police officers not to play Pokemon Go while on duty.

"The prohibition of playing Pokemon Go due to afraid can disrupt the performance of police personnel in providing services to people," National police spokesman Inspector General of national police Boy Rafli Amar said in Jakarta, on Wednesday (20/7).

In letter with number STR / 533 / VII / 2016 dated July 19, 2016 mentions the negative impacts of the game Pokemon Go include reduced alertness while playing Pokemon Go due to its players must concentrate at the screen of a mobile phone so they hard to focus while working.

In addition, this game based on GPS and requires players to enable geolocation, and make national police feel afraid when the location of the game at the national police area.

"Because it will be recorded and if the information received by people who are not responsible, could be misused," he said.

Other negative impacts, this game can trigger chaos between its players because they fight bonus items and pokemon. Therefore, the Chief of National Police prohibit his staff play the game in the Police area, and ban the police  playing Pokemon Go during working hours as well as prohibit the guests play the game in the National Police area.

"Chief of National Police has been ordered the police personnel to be aware of suspicious people who playing Pokemon Go near the police area," Boy added.
