PRHT helps flood victims of Surakarta and Purworejo

REPUBLIKA.CO.ID, YOGYAKARTA -- The rain that occur with high intensity since Saturday (18/6) afternoon that prevalent in Surakarta and the surrounding region have caused flooding that has entered the residential portion. Flooding and landslides also occurred in several districts and Purworejo district

Manager of Public Relations Humanitarian Team (PRHT), Sukismo explained based on information collected by the rescue team of PRHT, there are nearly 210 families were affected by floods in Surakarta and surrounding areas. Flooding and landslides has also occurred in several districts and Purworejo district.

Hearing the information, said Sukismo, Yogyakarta PRHT direct communication with various parties, both BPBDs or other volunteer community to take action and provide assistance. "Carrying around 20 villages that has flooded in Purworejo. As for the landslides it has occurred in 3 sub-districts: Purworejo, Lowanu and Kaligesing," said Sukismo In a statement to Republika.co.id, Tuesday (21/6).

Sukismo explained, for the past two days PRHT rescue teams continue to commit acts of disaster management among others that distribute hygiene kits and logistics to the disaster points. PRHT also continued evacuation of the landslide victims, held a health service for flood victims, the distribution of clean water or dewatering wells and distribution of clean clothes and baby kits.

He said that this time in Purworejo  the flooding had receded and people have started returning home each to take action to clean up. "PKPU rescue team will focus on the basic needs of survivors, the fulfillment of the rights of life and protection," he said.

In addition the team is planning to take action to clean up at some public facilities and perform suctioning in wells - wells of public facilities.
