REPUBLIKA.CO.ID, JAKARTA -- Media representatives from 50 countries will participate in an International Conference of Islamic Media (ICIM), focusing on efforts to free Al Aqsha and Palestine, which will be held at Wisma Antara Building here from May 25-26, 2016.

Through the ICIM, Antara news agency and other media would echo the cause of liberation of Al Aqsha and Palestine, Antara News Director Aat Surya Safaat told the press here on Monday.

"Media plays a crucial role in shaping public opinion globally, " he said.

He believed that the ICIM would be an effective forum to voice support for the Palestinian struggle for independence in accordance with the results of an Extraordinary Summit of the Organization of Islamic Cooperation (OIC) held in Jakarta on March 6-7 this year.

A number of foreign ambassadors have been invited to participate in the meeting.

The upcoming conference is supported by the ministries of foreign affairs, communication and informatics, and religious affairs.

The Palestinian embassy in Jakarta has appreciated the fact that such an event was being organized here.
