Police: Distribution of communist attributes causing public disquiet

REPUBLIKA.CO.ID, REPUBLIKA.CO.ID, JAKARTA – Chief of Indonesia’s National Police Gen. Badrodin Haiti said the distribution of communism attributes recently causing public unrest.

"It appears some phenomena, either the use of attributes, discussions, and meetings with the theme of communism," he said, Thursday (12/5).

In response, the police to take immediately action, so this situation is not exploited by irresponsible parties.

"For example, if you wearing t-shirts emblazoned the hammer and sickle, we will take it to the office for questioning what their motive (using the shirts)," Badrodin said.

He added, some sellers of attributes that reflect communism also been secured and questioned by police.

"Few (sellers) already we handle and check," he said.

Badrodin added if the investigation results proved that the spread of the attributes to do with communism, the perpetrator could be sentenced with 10 years in prison.

In responding to the danger of the spread of communism, the Police get cooperation with expert witnesses to investigate the spread of communism in several regions in Indonesia. While the circulation of books on the theme of communism, he continued, is the responsibility of the prosecutor to monitor it.

"Supervision (circulation of books) were handed over to the prosecutor," he added.
