REPUBLIKA.CO.ID, JAKARTA -- President Joko Widodo (Jokowi) received representatives of the Nusantara Plantation Worker Federation (FSBUN) at the Merdeka Palace, here, on Thursday. Jokowi was accompanied by Minister/State Secretary Pratikno, State Enterprises Minister (BUMN) Rini Soemarno, BUMN's Deputy in charge of Agribusiness and pharmacy Wahyu Kuncoro, and President Director of state plantation PTPN III Dolly Pulungan.

The FSBUN representatives were invited to the palace as Jokowi could not meet the labor federation's invitation to open its workshop in Jakarta. At the meeting, Jokowi asked state-owned plantation companies' workers to take care of the companies, so that they could grow and give benefit for the improvement of the welfare of their workers, surrounding communities, and the state, Soemarno told the press.

"So, they could work peacefully, have permanent homes, and have a strong commitment to protect the plantations," the minister added.
