REPUBLIKA.CO.ID, JAKARTA - The National Winning Body (BPN) of Prabowo Subianto-Sandiaga Salahuddin Uno denied that it had made pamphlets to call the people to join Friday prayer with Prabowo at the Kauman Grand Mosque in Semarang on Friday (Feb 15). BPN asserted their side did not create those pamphlets.

"I checked with the Chairman of the Gerindra of Central Java, Gerindra nor the Provincial Winning Body (consisting of various supporting political parties) and the BPN did not make (pamphlets)," said BPN spokesman Andre Rosiade told reporters on Thursday (Feb 14).

Andre emphasized Prabowo did not have intention to politicizing the place of worship while performing Friday prayer at the Kauman Grand Mosque. He said that Prabowo only wanted to conduct Friday prayer on the sidelines of various campaign activities in Semarang.

"There will be no speech (after finishing Friday prayers)," Andre asserted.

Meanwhile, BPN spokesman coordinator Dahnil Anzar Simanjuntak said the attitude of the Mosque management, which prohibited someone from conducting Friday prayers with false accusations, such as the politicization of the mosque, was not very good.

"No one in this country may ban a Muslim from performing Friday prayer at any mosque," Dahnil said.

Dahnil also stressed to the parties who were overly concerned about the plan for Prabowo's arrival for Friday prayer to be calm. Dahnil emphasized that Prabowo knew the ethics of worship.

Previously, the Semarang Kauman Grand Mosque management stated they wanted the place of worship to be free from political activities. Therefore, they filed a report against presidential candidate number 02, Prabowo Subianto to Election Supervisory Board (Bawaslu) on alleged politicizing masjid.

"We have submitted the chronology to Bawaslu of Semarang," said Chairman of the Semarang Grand Mosque, KH Hanief Ismail, in Semarang, on Thursday (Feb 14).

According to Hanief, Gerindra Party administrators came to Kauman mosque two days ago. One of them said that Prabowo wanted to perform Friday prayers at Kauman mosque on February 15.

Hanief said the management welcomed Prabowo to have congregational Friday prayer at the masjid. He explained that every Muslim may pray at Kauman mosque.

However, someone informed him about circulation of invitation to join Friday prayer with Prabowo. The mosque management immediately stated their objection as they feared that mosques to be used for political purposes.
