Bomb threat sent to KPK leaders house to bring fear: Police

KPK commissioners received bomb threats at their houses on early Wednesday.

REPUBLIKA.CO.ID, JAKARTA -- The police suspected that bomb threats at the residences of Corruption Eradication Commission (KPK) commissioners was meant to bring fear. The police said that as the terrors came in the form of fake bomb and low explosive coctail bomb.

"Although it seems only to scare, we are serious in catching the perpetrators," said spokesperson of the National Police, Inspector General Mohammad Iqbal at the National Police Headquarters, in Jakarta, on Thursday (Jan 10).

Iqbal asked the community to remain calm regardless the incidents. He also asserted that the police have shown their seriousness in handling this case as more investigators involved.

Joint team of Jakarta Metro Police and Anti-Terrorism Special Detachment 88 along with other investigation squad have been assigned. Iqbal also appealed to the community who have informations related to this terror to tip it off to the police.

"It could complement the investigation efforts of the investigation team," said Iqbal.

On Thursday (Jan 10), police confirmed that the object found hanging at the fence of KPK's chairman Agus Raharjo residence at Perum Graha Indah Blok A9 / 15 RT 004/014 Jatimekar, Jatiasih, in Bekasi City was a fake bomb. White powder found in the bag was cement, not an explosive.

Meanwhile, the National Police are still analyzing suspected molotov bomb at the home of KPK's deputy chairman, Laode M Syarif, at Jalan Kalibata Selatan 42 C, Kalibata, in South Jakarta. Police are still trying to identify the two bottles thrown to Laode's house on Wednesday.
