REPUBLIKA.CO.ID, JAYAPURA -- President Joko Widodo (Jokowi) started his working visit in Papua Province by inaugurating Time Capsule Monument in Merauke Regency on Friday (Nov 16). He was accompanied by First Lady Iriana.

"I also noticed that on people were talking about the Time Capsule Monument on social media. The shape looks similar to the Avengers headquarters, which is also very futuristic," said Jokowi, quoted from the official broadcast of the Palace.

Seven messages and hopes for Indonesian children were placed in shells in the Time Capsule Monument by 36 children. The messages for the future to be opened in the next 70 years.

"So that later in 2085 it will be opened by our successors. Can we make those seven big dreams come true? So, this is not just an ordinary monument. This is our dream monument," Jokowi said.

After inaugurating Time Capsule Monument, Jokowi visited Great Mosques in Merauke to perform Friday prayer. According to State Palace media bureau head Bey Machmudin, Jokowi continued his activity by reviewing the construction of drainage or culvert box on Merauke - Sota roads.

Jokowi also reviewed Sota Integrated National Cross Border Post (PLBN). The presidential delegation reported arrived at Mopah International Airport, Merauke, Papua Province on Friday at 01.20 WIT (Indonesia East Standard Time), after a working visit in Singapore.

Jokowi is also scheduled to attend the APEC Summit meeting that will take place in Port Moresby, Papua New Guinea, from Nov 17 to 18. Indonesian Ambassador to Papua New Guinea, Ronald Manik, told Antara on Thursday that the president is due to arrive in Port Moresby on Saturday (Nov 17), following a working visit to Merauke.
