REPUBLIKA.CO.ID, JAKARTA — National Police Criminal Investigation Unit (Bareskrim) head Arief Sulistyanto said the money from Basuki Hariman import beef graft case has never flew to National Police Chief Tito Karnavian. According to him, police has checked and investigated the issue that known as ‘red book’.
“It’s not true. There is no flow of funds to Tito Karnavian,” said Arief.
Arief said a case that has been ascertained by a law enforcer that it was not proven, so it could not be followed up by other law enforcers. So, in this case, the issue of Tito should not be continued.
According to Arief, it refers to a memorandum of understanding between National Police, Attorney General Office and Corruption Eradication Commission (KPK). He stressed National Police has investigated and the allegation to Tito can not be proven.
“It’s in accordance with a joint decision between National Police, KPK, and Attorney General Office. We have investigated and there is no flow of funds,” Arief explained.
The rumor began when a number of medias stated that there was a record of the transaction of cash flow from CV Sumber Laut Perkasa to Tito's account. The case was linked to two investigators who being ‘returned’ by KPK to National Police on Oct 13, 2017. They are Roland Ronaldy and Harun who allegedly in breach when investigating import beef bribery case.
Both of them allegedly damaged evidences, such as some datas in transaction red book that belongs to Basuki company. In the datas, Tito allegedly involved. However, internal investigation by National Police denied any damage to the evidence.
Peviously, KPK chairman Agus Rahardjo said it happened more than a year ago. He also stressed internal inspectors have examined camera and the allegation can not be proven.
"Internal inspectors have examined the camera. The camera recorded, but the presence of a raid was not seen on the camera," Agus said.
As a result of the incident, KPK tried to investigate the matter. However, due to the debate between members of KPK, the anti-graft institution has not imposed sanctions yet to their investigators.
