Andi Narogong pays replacement money and fine

Main actor in e-ID card graft case, Andi Narogong, gets 13 years imprisonment.

REPUBLIKA.CO.ID, JAKARTA — Convicted in e-ID card graft case Andi Agustinus or also known as Andi Narogong has paid replacement money and fine with the total Rp2,1 billion. The amount consisted of a fine Rp1 billion and replacement money Rp1,186 billion.

“The total amount Rp2,186 billion has been deposited by Corruption Eradication Commission (KPK) to the state treasury,” said KPK spokesperson Febri Diansyah, on Thursday (Oct 11).

Previously, Andi had returned 350,000 US dollar. The replacement money and a fine was KPK attempt to recover state financial losses due to e-ID card graft case.

"This is part of the asset recovery effort carried out by the KPK, especially in e-ID card graft case,” Febri added.

KPK has sent Andi to Tangerang Penitentiary in Banten on last Thursday (Oct 4). According to Febri, Andi is detained at Tangerang Penitentiary not because there is other e-ID card convicted Setya Novanto at Sukamiskin Penitentiary in Bandung, West Java. However, corruption convicted is not focused to be detained at Sukamiskin.

“Not all executions are centered at Sukamiskin Penitentiary at this time," Febri said.

On Sept 16, Supreme Court handed down a heavier sentence for Andi. The verdict by panel of judges consisting of Mohamad Askin, Leopold Hutagalung, and Surya Jaya decided to increase the prison term for Andi to 13 years.

Previously, on March 28, Jakarta High Court has increased prison term for Andi to 11 years and fined him Rp1 billion or six months confinement. He also was obliged to pay replacement money 2,15 million US dollar and Rp1,186 billion or three years confinement.

He was previously sentenced to eight years imprisontment by Jakarta Corruption Court or his first court on December 21, 2017.

Andi was declared guilty of conspiring with numerous parties in the deliberation of e-ID project in House of Representatives (DPR). He was accused of persuading Setya who also former House speaker and former Golkar Party chairman, then a member of House Commission II overseeing home affairs, to help him gain lawmakers’ approval for Rp 5,9 trillion budget to procure e-ID card.

Jakarta High Court had also annulled Andi’s status as a justice collaborator although he had admitted his crime and contributed to the investigation by revealing the roles of other parties. He was declared as the main actor of e-ID card graft case.
