REPUBLIKA.CO.ID, JAKARTA -- Chief Justice of the Supreme Court (MA) Hatta Ali called on all levels of the Supreme Court to expedite the process of resolving cases at the end of 2018. He asked all supreme judges in all fields to work hard.

"Because this is the end of the year," Ali said at the Supreme Court (MA) building in Jakarta, Tuesday.

Ali said this so the nominal cases remaining in 2018 could be lower than the ones in 2017. "The Supreme Court has affirmed the settlement of cases at the end of this year; the nominal must be below last year's 1,388 cases," Ali said.

Ali revealed the remaining case value in 2017 was the lowest in MA history. "If it does not decline, it means there is no development or improvement in performance," said Ali.

In 2016, the cases that were not handled by the Supreme Court amounted to 2,357.

Previously, in the presentation of the 2017 MA annual report, Ali had stated that since 2011, the remaining nominal cases handled by the Supreme Court experienced a significant decline.

During this period, Ali said that the Supreme Court was able to erode more than 86 percent of the remaining cases.

The decline in nominal remaining cases, said Hatta, is the fruit of the system and regulation of division of fields or rooms that have been applied by the Supreme Court.

"The implementation of this room system greatly affects the productivity of handling cases in MA," said Ali.
