REPUBLIKA.CO.ID, JAKARTA —  Daughter of former president the late Abdurrahman Wahid (Gus Dur), Yenny Wahid was still undecided on support for one of the candidates in 2019 presidential election. She kept on praying to seek guidance from God (istikharah).

“Not yet. Still (performing) istikharah,” said Yenny when contacted by Republika.co.id, on Thursday (Sept 20).

Previously, Yenny admitted that she was offered to join Prabowo - Sandiaga campaign team. She also said incumbent President Joko Widodo (Jokowi) - Ma’ruf Amin campaign team has delivered the same purpose first.

According to, Gerindra Party deputy secretary general Andre Rosiade said until Wednesday (Sept 19) night, there has no confirmation yet about Yenny's willingness to join Prabowo - Sandiaga campaign team. Both the government and opposition camp wished to have Yenny on their team as she represents Gusdurian (Gus Dur followers) and nahdliyin (followers of Nahdlatul Ulama, the largest Islamic mass organization in the country).

On the other hand, Andre said Muhammadiyah Youth organization chairperson Dahnil Anzar Simanjuntak has joined Prabowo - Sandiaga campaign team. Dahnil was appointed as coordinator of spokepersons of the team.

According to Andre, Dahnil decided to support Prabowo - Sandiaga pair in 2019 presidential election after performing istikharah. Gerindra Party was grateful for the presence of the Dahnil figure in the structure of the winning team because it increased the number of young people who participated in supporting Prabowo-Sandiaga's victory. Dahnil also came from the second largest Islamic mass organization in Indonesia.
