REPUBLIKA.CO.ID, JAKARTA — Home Affairs Minister Tjahjo Kumolo said many voters double datas in permanent voters list (DPT) was due to General Election Commission (KPU) did not use the demographic data from the ministry maximally. He asked KPU to refer to datas from Ministry of Home Affairs to improve voters data.

“The cause of the emergence of voters data duplication in DPT because KPU didn’t optimally use potential data on potential voters of the electoral voters (DP4) from Ministry of Home Affairs," Tjahjo said in his written statement on Thursday (Sept 6).

In fact, Tjahjo said the main task of Ministry of Home Affairs in the preparation of the voter list was to provide DP4 and help KPU to do data update. Therefore, KPU must really use reference data from Ministry of Home Affairs in the preparation of DPT.

“There is a decision of Constitutional Court (MK) which argues that KPU must continue to refer to demographic data from the Directorate General of Population and Civil Registration (Dukcapil) Ministry of Home Affairs to compile DPT and must be guided to DP4 from us,” Tjahjo explained.

Earlier, Coalition of parties supporting Prabowo Subianto and Sandiaga Uno pair refused to accept the number of DPT of 185 million more voters released by KPU. The statement came after the four secretaries-general of the supporting parties held a meeting.

Prosperous Justice Party (PKS) secretary general Mustafa Kamal said the reason of DPT rejection due to there was a number of errors related to temporary voters list (DPS). There were at least 25 million double datas from 137 million more voters in DPS.

“We reject DPT in 2019 general election and presidential election, because in some  electoral districts there are several names, even one name can be duplicated 11 times in one polling station (TPS),” said Mustafa on Sept 3.

Meanwhile, Election Supervisory Board (Bawaslu) said there was a potential for double voters datas, which could reach 1,3 million. The data was based on an analysis of DPT data set from 34 provinces.

KPU chairman Arief Budiman said due to the findings, 2019 election national DPT was still ratified on Wednesday (Sept 5). However, the commission still give time to fix DPT for 10 days since it was set.
