REPUBLIKA.CO.ID, JAKARTA -- JAKARTA -- President Joko Widodo (Jokowi) attended the "Apel Siaga NTB Bangun Kembali" (West Nusa Tenggara/NTB rises again) ceremony at the Gunung Sari Football field, West Lombok District, at 8 a.m local time. He started his program on the second day of his visit to NTB province with attending the NTB Bangun Kembali ceremony on Monday, Deputy for Protocol, Press and the Media of the Presidential Secretariat Bey Machmudin said.

After attending the ceremony, the head of state and entourage will review the construction of houses of the Healthy Modest Instantaneous House (RISHA) program in Kekait village, Gunung Sari Subdistric, West Lombok District, NTB. In the afternoon, the President and his entourage will visit SMP Negeri 6 junior high school and Regional General Hospital of Mataram.

After reviewing the two public facilities, the President will return to Jakarta by the Indonesia-1 Presidential Aircraft through Lombok International Airport, Central Lombok District. Jokowi on the previous day departed to Lombok to ensure that post-earthquake handling was going well in the NTB region.

He did not attend the closing ceremony of the 2018 Asian Games and only greeted via a teleconference the audience at the Bung Karno Main Stadium. Yet, before leaving for Lombok on Sunday, the President had handed over the government promised bonuses to Indonesian athletes, coaches and officials.

Jokowi held a limited meeting with a number of related officials on Sunday night to discuss the reconstruction of houses damaged by a powerful earthquake in the island of Lombok on Aug 5. The meeting was held near an evacuee camp in Gunung Sari sub-district, West Lombok district, West Nusa Tenggara province.

Also present at the meeting were Public Works and Housing Minister Basuki Hadimuljono, Social Service Minister Agus Gumiwang, West Nusa Tenggara Governor M. Zainul Majdi, Chief of the National Defense Forces Marshal Hadi Tjahjanto, Chief of the National Police General Tito Karnavian, Cabinet Secretary Pramono Anung, and Chief of the National Disaster Mitigation Board (BNPB) Willem Rampangilei.

The meeting was held after the president and entourage watched the television broadcast of the 18th Asian Games' closing ceremony at Gunung Sari soccer field in West Lombok. At the limited meeting, Jokowi said he perceived the wish on the part of the affected people to rebuild their damaged houses according to their own desire.

He said the government will facilitate the wish, however, the Public Works and Housing Ministry will continue to supervise the reconstruction of the damaged houses.

"I perceive the wish on the part of the public to build houses according to their own desire. In principle, there is no problem. But they must really ensure their function and the houses are built under the concept of low-cost, healthy instant house (RISHA) technology," he said.

Earlier, the President of the Asian Olympic Council (OCA), Sheikh Ahmad Al Fahad Al Sabah, has presented prayers and greetings to the people of Lombok in West Nusa Tenggara following the earthquakes that hit the area before and during the 2018 Asian Games.

"Good evening President Joko Widodo and the people of Lombok, our hearts and prayers for all of you, Amien. Indonesia, thank you very much. We love you," Sheikh Al-Sabah said while raising his hands to form a heart sign above his head when giving a remark at the Closing Ceremony of the 2018 Asian Games at Bung Karno Main Stadium, here on Sunday night.
