REPUBLIKA.CO.ID, MATARAM -- The Mataram city government revealed here on Tuesday that it has been validating the data on Lombok quake victims. The data will be used as basis to determine people who are eligible for receiving the Social Affairs Ministry's aid funds.
"After completing the data, the city government's proposal for disbursing the funds can be submitted to the ministry," Mataram's Deputy Mayor Mohan Roliskana stated.
The data on the targeted recipients must have valid addresses, Roliskana stated. The valid addresses of the quake survivors became part of important requirements that the Mataram city government needs to fulfill before submitting the proposal to the ministry, Roliskana informed local journalists.

Meanwhile, Head of Mataram City's Social Affairs Office Hasnayati remarked that the assistance funds would merely be given to those, who become permanent refugees, in the aftermath of a string of strong quakes that have repeatedly rocked Lombok Island since July 29.
The permanent refugees are defined as those losing their houses, which have suffered heavy damage or have been totally destroyed by the earthquakes. Hence, they cannot return to their destroyed houses to continue their normal lives.
Mataram city's Disaster Mitigation Agency recorded that 1,686 houses were categorized as heavily damaged in the neighborhoods of Gontoran, Tegal, and Pengempel Indah in Sandubaya Sub-district, as well as Kamasan in Selaparang Sub-district. She said each of the refugees will receive Rp10 thousand for three months.
"Hence, if a family has five members, it will receive Rp50 thousand, as each of the family members will receive Rp10 thousand for three months," Hasnayati stated.
However, Hasnayati said she had yet to know whether the funds will be disturbed on daily, weekly, or monthly bases though the funds will certainly be transferred to the recipients' bank accounts.
Over the past four weeks, the Indonesian resort island of Lombok in West Nusa Tenggara Province has been under the spotlight for a string of strong earthquakes that hit it since July 29. As a result of the strong earthquakes, including the 7.0-magnitude quake that shook Lombok Island on Aug 5, according to the National Disaster Mitigation Agency, as of Aug 23, at least 555 people were killed, and 829 others were injured.
Most fatalities were residents of North Lombok District areas due to their proximity to the strong earthquake's epicenter. The repeated earthquakes have also damaged 23,098 houses and led to the forced displacement of 134,236 people.
