REPUBLIKA.CO.ID, BOGOR -- The Election Supervisory Body (Bawaslu) met President Joko Widodo at the Bogor Presidential Palace to report the supervision of the 2018 regional election.  Bawaslu chairman along with several of its members -- Ratna Dewi Pettalolo, Mochammad Afifuddin, Rahmat Bagja, and Fritz Edward Siregar -- were received by the president on Tuesday at around 11 a.m. Western Indonesian Time.

"What we had said earlier, several aspects related to the 2018 election were about the results of supervision, progress in the dispute over the results to the Constitutional Court, and several records of violations in the 2018 regional election," Bawaslu Chairman Abhan noted after meeting with the president on Tuesday.

According to Abhan, some violations that had occurred during the recent regional election included non-neutrality among members of the military and police and civil state apparatuses.

In addition, he remarked on Wednesday there will be an inauguration of the provincial Bawaslu as well as inauguration of Bawaslu at the city and district level on Thursday (Aug 16).

As a precautionary measure against the non-neutrality of civil state apparatuses (ASN), military, and police, Bawaslu plans to hold a forum to discuss the neutrality of the apparatus.

"ASN's 721 cases are linked to the neutrality of civil state apparatuses. We have suggested to the ASN and KASN Commissions that the recommendations have been made to the Sub-district Election Committee (PPK) for regional staffing to provide sanctions and reprimands. The PPK has imposed sanctions and reprimands," Abhan stated.

Abhan pointed out that military and police officers in the three regions of Maluku, Makassar, and North Maluku were found to be impartial.

President Joko Widodo also urged election organizers, civil state apparatuses, and military and police officers to continue to maintain neutrality, according to Abhan.
