Rupiah drops to Rp 14,400 per US dollar

Rupiah has continued to weaken to the level of 14,410 per dollar.

REPUBLIKA.CO.ID, JAKARTA -- The rupiah exchange rate was stagnant on Wednesday (July 18) afternoon. The Indonesian currency dropped to Rp 14,400 per US dollar, precisely at Rp 14,410 per US dollar.

Earlier this morning, the rupiah exchange are opened lower against US dollar at spots currency trading. It weakened 0.1 percent or 14 points at Rp 14.392 per US dollar.

Based on the reference rate of Jakarta Interbank Spot Dollar Rate (Jisdor), the rupiah exchange rate against the US dollar stood at Rp 14.406. The rate weakened than yesterday at Rp 14,391.

Based on daily analysis reports, HP Financials assessed US stock market moved positive in trading on July 17. The rise was underpinned by Federal Reserve Bank of Jerome Powell's testimony related to upbeat outlook on the US economy.

Meanwhile, Indonesian Composite Index (IHSG) continued its positive. At the end of trading session I, the stock index closed up 0,34 percent or 19,73 points at 5881,24.

During opening trading session this morning, IHSG gained 0,13 percent or 7,36 point at 5.868,87. Then at around 10.00 WIB (Indonesia West Standard Time) continued to gain at 5,895.
