Jokowi offers PT DI aircraft to Micronesia President

Micronesia president will visit PT DI in Bandung, West Java, on Thursday.

REPUBLIKA.CO.ID,  JAKARTA — President Joko Widodo (Jokowi) welcomed Micronesia President Peter M Christian at Presidential Palace on Wednesday (July 18). Peter arrived at around 10.00 WIB (Indonesia West Standard Time).

Jokowi was accompanied by Cabinet Secretary Pramono Anung, Trade Minister Enggartiasto Lukita, Coordinating Minister for Political and Security Affairs Wiranto, and Foreign Affairs Minister Retno Marsudi. After welcoming, bilateral meeting between Indonesia and Micronesia representatives was held.

In the meeting, Jokowi said Indonesia Government offered Micronesia to buy N-219 aircraft manufactured by PT Dirgantara Indonesia (PT DI). The aircraft can be used by people for transportation between islands.

“Tomorrow, Micronesia President will visit PTDI in Bandung,” said Jokowi on Wednesday (July 18).

According to Jokowi, Indonesia and Micronesia agreed to increase cooperation related to the maritime sector and inter-island connectivity. Both countries are said to have same characteristics.

“To get closer relations between the two countries, Indonesia wants to appoint an honorary consul to Micronesia federation,” Jokowi added.

In addition, entrepreneurs from Indonesia and Micronesia were also invited to attend the 2018 trade expo in which many domestic products are exhibited and sold.

Furthermore, Indonesia Government intended to provide scholarships for students and people of Micronesia who want to study here.
