REPUBLIKA.CO.ID, JAKARTA -- Several musicians involved in the creation of the song titled, "Bright As The Sun," for the 18th Asian Games hoped that it would encourage athletes, who will compete in the quadrennial sports event. Singer Ryan Ekky Pradipta, known as the vocalist of D'Masiv, noted that the song carries the message of friendship, unity, and sportsmanship.

"The song is written to represent the spirit of the athletes and to also boost friendship and unity even though we are different. Hopefully, the songs would be able to boost the spirit of athletes to win gold medals in the Asian Games, as a first step to conquering the world," Ryan, who is also the songwriter, stated at Bung Karno's aquatic stadium, Jakarta, on Friday.

Not only "Bright As The Sun," but other songs, such as "Conquering the World," sung by Once along with young singer Shakira Jasmine is also dedicated to athletes. The song echoes a sense of excitement, with despair not posing a hurdle to achieving victory.

Once feels honored to be involved in Ryan's song, which he believes is a good song.

"I collaborated with Shakira. At that time, I did not know her yet, so the recording process was fast. We went straight into the recording studio. I hope these songs would be able to enliven the Asian Games," Once stated.

Jasmine was surprised at first being offered to sing a duet with Once. She is happy and proud to participate in the 2018 Asian Games.

Meanwhile, the organizing committee (INASGOC) Chairman Erick Thohir expressed hope that through the theme echoed by the song, the Indonesian music industry would also gain recognition in the world. According to Thohir, the musicians involved in the creation of songs for the Asian Games have represented several generations of various genres. Hence, these songs can be heard by people from all walks of life.

"If we speak about the Asian Games, we not only want the sports to be made popular, but we also want to introduce Indonesian music and culture to the world," Tohir emphasized.

The album of the Asian Games 2018 contains a total of 13 songs that are also available on various streaming platforms, such as Spotify, including Joox.

The Asian Games 2018 is scheduled to be held from Aug 18 to Sept 2 in Jakarta and Palembang, South Sumatra.
