REPUBLIKA.CO.ID, JAKARTA -- Bank Indonesia (BI) stated rupiah exchange rate against US dollar tends to be stable. The central bank claimed the condition was due to market confidence against various policies issued by BI.

BI Governor Perry Warjiyo said government securities (SBN) per July 2 to July 12 reached Rp 7,1 trillion. He stressed that generally SBN has long-term, over 10 years.

The number has showed the confidence of foreign investors in Indonesia. Perry said in the foreign exchange market (forex), the rate of rupiah exchange rate is also good.

"The US dollar supply is large enough to meet demand, both from corporations and exporters," Perry said on Friday (July 13).

BI recorded, US dollar supply from the corporation averaged about 500 million US dollars to 600 million US dollars per day. Perry said he was thankful to corporations and exporters who supply the US dollar needs in the forex market.

“It strengthens the stability of the rupiah," Perry added.

Perry also asked corporations that did not have immediate need to dollars to use the swap mechanism. He assessed the swap rate is quite low. For one month for example, about 6.2 percent.

Based on the reference rate of Jakarta Interbank Spot Dollar Rate (Jisdor) on Friday (July 13), rupiah exchange rate against US dollar is Rp 14,358. The number is strengthened than yesterday, which weakened to Rp 14,435.
