REPUBLIKA.CO.ID, JAKARTA -- National Police Chief General Tito Karnavian was furious upon learning that Adjunct Senior Comm. Yusuf, a mid-ranking officer in Bangka Belitung Police, had allegedly maltreated two women and a boy. The video of his furious acts has been widely circulated in social medias.

"The police chief is angry as Yusuf's action is not in line with the promotor program," the chief of the Public Information Bureau of the Police Headquarters, Brig. Gen. M. Iqbal, said here on Friday.

Iqbal said the police chief in Bangka Belitung (Babel) has already been ordered to remove Yusuf from his post in the lash sub-directorate to ensure the safety of vital objects under the Babel police command.

Yusuf was transferred to the service headquarters of the Babel police command, while his previous position has been filled by Adjunct Senior Comm. Steyvanus Saparsono based on a letter from the chief of the Bangka Belitung Police Command No. ST/1786/VII/2018 dated July 13, 2018.

Meanwhile, the chief of Public Relations for the Babel police command, Adjunct Senior Comm. Abdul Munim, remarked that the maltreatment perpetrated by Yusuf against the two women and the boy was inseparable from the fact that the three were caught red-handed while committing a crime.

It was reported that the two women and the boy were caught committing a crime in a shop, triggering Yusuf's response.

Yusuf became agitated when they refused to admit what they had done, resulting in the alleged maltreatment.
