KPK investigates Aceh governor on graft charges

Aceh governor Irwandi Yusuf was arrested on Tuesday (June 3) in Aceh Province.

REPUBLIKA.CO.ID, JAKARTA -- The Corruption Eradication Commission (KPK), the Indonesian anti-graft agency, is conducting an investigation on Aceh Governor Irwandi Yusuf. The governor was arrested on Tuesday (June 3) in Aceh Province.

Yusuf arrived, with security escorts, at the building of the KPK, Jakarta, on Wednesday afternoon. He did not gave a statement to several media crew members, who confronted him in the KPK building's lobby.

Meanwhile, Yusuf's aide is also being investigated by the KPK.

Personnel of the anti-graft agency have arrested Yusuf and seized Rp500 million as evidence allegedly related to the special autonomous budget 2018.

The KPK personnel also conducted a preliminary investigation at the Aceh Regional Police Headquarters.

Moreover, the anti-graft body arrested 10 persons in Aceh, including two district heads accused of corruption.

The KPK also arrested the Head of Bener Meriah District Ahmadi.
