REPUBLIKA.CO.ID, JAKARTA -- Volcanic ash from Mount Agung in Bali has spread to several regions in northwestern and northeastern parts of the province. According to the Head for Public Relations of the Meteorological, Climatology, and Geophysics Agency (BMKG), Hary T Djatmiko the ash reached different heights on Friday.
The ash reached as high as 5 thousand to 7.5 thousand meters above sea level. The agency added that the wind blew the ash to the northeastern area of the province at 14:00 local time.
The agency previously found that the wind blew volcanic ash to the western and southeastern areas of the province at 05:00 local time. The 3,142-meter tall Mount Agung erupted on Thursday, June 28, at 15:00 local time.

The agency has set the hazard level at Level III.
The Ngurah Rai International Airport in Bali was also temporarily closed due to the eruption.
Other airports that were temporarily closed due to volcanic ash included the Blimbingsari Airport in Banyuwangi District, East Java Province and the Notohadinegoro Airport in Jember District.
