About coalition, PAN: Just wait for the right time

REPUBLIKA.CO.ID, JAKARTA -- The National Mandate Party (PAN) said it wants to create national coalition with friendship nuance in the run up to the presidential election next year. On the other hand, PAN is not on the rush in deciding its coalition, the party general chairman Zulkifli Hasan.

"We want quality coalition. Quality, togetherness, concepts and initiatives instead of setting one against another, hostile to each other," Zulkifli said here on Thursday.

He said PAN is studying possible coalition, before making a decision to coalesce with any of them.

"Just wait for the right time. In democracy, visiting Gerindra is not unusual, invited by PDIP and by Mr Airlangga of Golkar, we come as we honor invitation by friends. They are all friends," he simply said.

He said PAN would announce which coalition it would join after the regional election later this year. The type of coalition PAN wants is one adopting nationality politics.

"What is important for us is that the coalition adopts a politics based on nationality not axis politics hostile to each other. We believe in concept, initiatives with quality and mutually appreciating each other policies," the chairman of the People's Consultative Assembly (MPR) said.

Zulkifli seems to have distanced himself in policy from his party founder Amien Rais, who is known to be critical of the president and his ruling coalition.
