Sandiaga meets Ombudsman summon

Ombudsman summons Jakarta Provincial Government over Pari Island land ownership.

REPUBLIKA.CO.ID, JAKARTA -- Jakarta deputy governor Sandiaga Uno met Indonesian Ombudsman summon on Monday (April 9). The summon was related to the control of land ownership letter in Pari Island, Thousand Islands.

"I represent Mr. Governor to meet Ombudsman summon," Sandiaga said on Monday (April 9).

Sandiaga admitted that he did not know yet about the details of letter issuance. He said has not received yet the explanation from Jakarta Provincial Governemnt legal team.

He asserted Jakarta Provincial Government was still tracing the issue that reported to Ombudsman. Sandiaga said the complete and comprehensive information will be presented at Ombudsman office.

Earlier, a number of people from group that called Save Pari Island Coalition complained about the privatization of Pari Island by PT Bumi Pari Asri. Five citizens were criminalized on charges by entering the company's land and managing the beach.

Hundreds of residents settlements threatened to be evicted. The Coalition of Save Pari Island suspected the certificates issued on behalf of the company and the owners of such company were problematic.
