REPUBLIKA.CO.ID, JAKARTA -- Gerindra Party general deputy chairman, Fadli Zon said his party will definitely form a coalition with Prosperous Justice Party (PKS) in the upcoming 2019 general election. However, he stressed Gerindra remains open to invite other political parties.

"Gerindra and PKS will form coalition, but we expect more support from other parties to be stronger in facing regional elections in this year and 2019 presidential election," said Fadli who is also House of Representatives (DPR) deputy speaker on Thursday (March 8).

Fadli believed Gerindra needed strong support from other political parties to propose its presidential candidate, namely Prabowo Subianto. Therefore, Gerindra wanted to form big coalition of political parties, even though, with PKS, they have fulfilled requirement to propose presidential candidate.

"Our principle is bigger coalition will be better, so the supports and networks will be wider," Fadli added.

Furthermore, he said the declaration to convey support to Prabowo will be held soon. Currently, the aspirations are being collected from a number of regions in Indonesia.

In the declaration, Prabowo's running mate will also be conveyed. Prabowo's running mate will be discussed first with Gerindras party coalition.

"Of course, the running-mate is the person who has high electability and really possible to compete and win 2019 election," Fadli said.
