REPUBLIKA.CO.ID, JAKARTA -- Gerindra will declare its general chairman, Prabowo Subianto, as presidential candidate when the time has come, the party's deputy general chairman, Fadli Zon, said here on Tuesday. He told newsmen who asked about the issue to just wait for it saying that "Gerindra still has yet to discuss it with coalition partners.

Zon denied that Prabowo would be partnered with Jokowi (president Joko Widodo) for the next presidential election in 2019.

"Never think that Prabowo would be willing to be partnered with Jokowi," he said.

Zon who is also deputy House of Representatives speaker said that Prabowo and Jokowi had different platforms and so they could not be partnered.

Prabowo was Jokowi's rival in the last election in 2014.

On the occasion he also said that Prabowo is currently on a diet by eating less rice to maintain his health and posture to meet the election.

"Pak (Mr) Prabowo is now on a diet so that he will look fresher at the election," he said.

He said everybody has to conduct a diet in order to maintain his health. Regarding his look he admitted that he had difficulty to take a diet program and had even eaten rice too much.

"A candidate for a national leader must not only have a good physical look but must also have a vision and a mission which are pro-people," he added.
