REPUBLIKA.CO.ID, JAKARTA -- Jakarta public transportation operator PT Transportasi Jakarta (Transjakarta) will provide some 101 low entry buses for the 2018 Asian Games, an official stated. President Director of PT Transjakarta Budi Kaliwono said the buses will be brought to Jakarta in June 2018.

The low entry buses will be used to transport athletes, coaches and other officials during the Asian Games. "They will be used for the first time by the Asian Games athletes and their respective team officials. After that, the buses will be used for public transportation," Budi explained.

The body of the buses will be made from aluminum. It will help save fuel and also reduce air pollution, he remarked.

"This is the first time we will use aluminum to manufacture the body, which will ensure the bus is lighter and the use of diesel fuel is efficient," Budi stressed when visiting the factory, Nusantara Gemilang, in Kudus, Central Java, Tuesday.

He further revealed that the bus would accommodate as many as 73 passengers, including 37 standees, 34 sitting passengers and two wheelchairs.

"The buses are also equipped with LCD television screen, light fire extinguisher and a glass breaker. We will make sure the security aspect is taken care of completely," Budi added.
