REPUBLIKA.CO.ID, JAKARTA -- Head of Information Center (Kapuspen) Indonesian Military (TNI) Maj. Gen. Wuryanto said as many as 5.932 bullets of 40 millimeter caliber imported by National Police did not have a legal umbrella.
According to him, the rules of arms ownership by military and non military institutions was clearly regulated in Presidential Intruction (Inpres) No. 9.
"Even so, we believe National Police obey the rules, but there are differences that can not be implemented by each institution," said Wuryanto in Jakarta, Tuesday (October 10).
He said the overlapping rules were being discussed. TNI temporary would complied to Inpres No. 9/1976. Therefore, the ammunition ordered by national police are stored at the Army Headquarters.
"The standard of caliber for non-military is very clear. In Inpres, for military is above 5,56 millimeters and lower caliber for the non-military. We only apply the rules," Wuryanto explained.
According to him, whether in the future there will be regulatory reform or sanctions, it will be discussed further.
Wuryanto said this problem had also been coordinated with Ministry of Coordinating Political, Legal, and Security Affairs.
