REPUBLIKA.CO.ID, JAKARTA -- TNI Commander General Gatot Nurmantyo said foreign countries are have a big interest to undermine Indonesian unity and tried to divide the country. Those countries, he added, has used the issue of intolerance to achieve these goals.

According to him, the issue of intolerance is appropriate to divide Indonesia as the largest archipelagic country with 17 thousand islands, 34 provinces, 714 tribes, and 1,100 local languages.

"Intolerance is a way to divide Indonesia, in order to take control of our natural resources," Gatot said in a press release received by Republika.co.id, Tuesday.

Therefore, Gatot said, the young generation of Indonesia should be a pioneer in implementing the values of Pancasila in daily life. So that the unity of the nation could be maintained.

Moreover, based on history and cultural anthropology, the Indonesian youth are consisted of patriots. Gatot believes that Indonesia would not be divided as long as the youth applied the values of Pancasila.

"Let us implement the values of Pancasila, so that the younger generation can participate in maintaining the unity of the nation," said Gatot.
