REPUBLIKA.CO.ID, JAKARTA -- Vice Chairman of People's Consultative Assembly (MPR) Hidayat Nur Wahid said there are attempts to divide the Indonesian Muslims. The indication could be seen through statements that have been growing in the society.

"They say, Muslim who is pro-Islam must be not pro-NKRI. They also say, Muslim who is pro-Islam or pro-212 rally seems to harm Pancasila," Hidayat said when socializing Four Pillars in Surabaya, East Java, on Thursday (August 3), night.

According to Hidayat, it was very likely there are certain parties that have an agenda to weaken Indonesia. They did not like to see Indonesia being advanced, strong, or did not like if Muslims get along with the government.

"They want to weaken Indonesia and drag Indonesia to be colonized again," he said.

On that occasion, Hidayat reminded that Indonesia should not be trapped in a scenario to incited religious people against the government or between religious people with the Indonesian military (TNI), or between the TNI and the religious community.

Hidayat assessed Indonesian people should not doubt Muslims commitment to NKRI, Pancasila, and the sovereignty. "This the nature of Indonesian Muslims and it is important for Indonesian Muslims to understand it," he said.

In fact, he said, in Surabaya there was a heroic event against the Dutch colonialists, defending the newly independent Indonesia.

"It was the fatwa of KH Hasyim Azhari known as Jihad Resolution on October 22, 1945, which later became the historic events of November 10," said Hidayat.

On the other hand, Hidayat reiterated Muslims also should not be used as a scapegoat to be hostile, pitted, and criminalized.
