REPUBLIKA.CO.ID, JAKARTA -- The former Hizbut Tahrir Indonesia (HTI) members would not join United Development Party (PPP). Eventhough PPP expressed it readiness to embrace former HTI members. HTI, an organization recently disbanded by the government.

"No. I ensure we definitely will not join PPP, " said HTI Spokesman Ismail Yusanto, Tuesday, (July 25).

According to him, PPP was supporting Basuki Tjahaja Purnama, the convicted in blasphemy case. Meanwhile, HTI urged law enforcement against the former Jakarta governor.

Likewise, PPP is supporting Regulation in Lieu of Law (Perppu) on mass organizations (Perppu) No.2 of 2017 on Mass Organizations which resulted with the dissolution of HTI.

"PPP was Ahok supporter. They also support Perppu, supporting the dissolution of HTI. How could they expect support from HTI members?" Ismail explained.

Ismail said the PPP's stance supporting HTI's dissolution was the same as supporting HTI's death. However, after HTI death, they wanted to ask for support from the dead.

"But after HTI death, they ask for support that's weird. It's impossible," he said.

Previously, PPP expressed readiness to accept the former HTI members with the conditions they are willing to be subject to NKRI and Pancasila.

"PPP is ready to receive HTI members, as long as they can submit to NKRI and Pancasila," said PPP Chairman Romahurmuziy after closing the 2nd national meeting of his party in Jakarta on Friday (July 21).
