REPUBLIKA.CO.ID, JAKARTA -- President Commissioner of PT Tiga Pilar Sejahtera Anton Apriyantono denied allegation that one of its subsidiary, PT Indo Beras Unggul (IBU), in Bekasi has been cheating the consumers by selling lower quality rice and claimed it as premium.

He also denied the company has caused hundreds of trillions state loss because the turnover of PT IBU was only Rp 4 trillion per annum.

Anton confirmed the allegations were a slander against his company. "Don't he fear of the afterlife?" he asked in wonders.

According to Anton, the national police chief Gen. Tito Karnavian has decieved the public by accusing PT IBU's products under the brand Ayam Jago and Maknyuss has been cheating consumers by selling medium-quality rice at a premium price and also falsified information on the product's nutritional content on its label.

Anton explained the company's raw material was not IR 64 rice as accused. He said the variety of rice is now rare since new varieties have been grown, namely Inpari and Ciherang.

Furthermore, Anton reiterated Tito's accusation was a tremendous public lie.

"There is no such thing as a subsidized IR 64 rice. Rice for the poor (raskin) is subsidized not on rice but on purchase. Raskin is not sold freely, only for underprivileged consumers," he explained in press release received by Republika.co.id, Sunday (July 23).

On late Thursday (July 20), the police's Food Task Force has sealed PT Indo Beras Unggul, a rice milling plant in Kedungwaringin, Bekasi District, West Java, on grounds of committing business fraud and seized 1,161 tons of rice.
