REPUBLIKA.CO.ID, JAKARTA -- President Joko Widodo (Jokowi) should form an independent team to reveal the attack to senior investigator of Corruption Eradication Commission (KPK) Novel Baswedan, said Indonesian Corruption Watch (ICW).

"It needs a strong political power to reveal the case, an independent team must be formed," said a researcher of ICW Febri Hendri to Republika.co.id on Friday (June 30).

Febri said there were some obstacles in revealing the case as the people involved had big power and authority. Novel ever said to Time that there was a general police’s involvement in the case. Therefore, an independent team was needed to reveal the case.

“It cannot be broken down by only ordinary investigators,” he said.

Febri argued that the investigation should not take more than two months. Police had abilities to detect the assailants by its intelligence.

According to Febri, this was not an ordinary case. Novel was a unit leader of some corruption cases handled by KPK. He also handle big cases. He assumed that the assailants were only executors sent by intelectual actor.
