Chairman of GNPF asks the society to accept judges' decision on Ahok's case

Muslims gathered at Istiqlal mosque on Friday to support the judges of blasphemy case to be fair in making the verdict for the defendant, Basuki Tjahaja Purnama.

REPUBLIKA.CO.ID, JAKARTA -- Chairman of National Movement to Safeguard the Indonesian Council of Ulama's Fatwa (GNPF MUI), cleric Bachtiar Nasir, reminded 55 rally participators to respect all the existing regulation. He said they should accept the judges' decision to the blasphemy case with Basuki Tjahaja Purnama as the defendant. The verdict to be read on next Tuesday (May 9).

"Whether it is satisfying or disappointing, we must accept it as God's will," said Bachtiar around Istiqlal mosque in Jakarta on Friday (May 5).

He explained that the judges were God's creature. Therefore, the decision is a God's will. Bachtiar called the society to pray to God and to believe to every decision as His will.

Bachtiar also asked the society involved in the rally to keep the security and cleanness of the streets in Jakarta. He appealed them not to cross the lines made by the police and military force and see them as brothers in nation.  

"It would be useless if we gather here but not accepting the judge's decision," said Bachtiar. 

Bachtiar read a prayer and appeal in Istiqlal Mosque right after the Friday prayer. Twelve delegation from the rally came to Supreme Court and Istiqlal mosque continued by a preaching by the preachers.
