REPUBLIKA.CO.ID, JAKARTA -- PT Freeport Indonesia (PTFI) seemed did not have the willing to change the cooperation of contract work (KK) to be a special mining business permit (IUPK). PTFI also stated a threat to complain and to use its right in the international law agencies. "If the company was not cooperative in discussing the issue, we will take an action," President Joko Widodo (Jokowi) reiterated in Cibubur, Jakarta on Wednesday (23/2). 

Jokowi emphasized that the government wanted to seek a win-win solution for both parties. However, he let the minister to resolved it.

As known, the relationship between PTFI and the government was heated up after the government through the Ministry of Energy and Mineral Resources asked for a change of KK to be IUPK. PTFI showed the company was reluctant to meet the request because it would change the sum of taxes and divestation it should pay.

The Chief Executive Officer (CEO) of Freeport McMoran Inc Richard C Adkerson said to the reporter on Monday that Freeport could not accept the IUPK status. Therefore, the American mining company had not exported concentrate. 

Richard said Freeport had sent a letter to the Minister of Energy and Mining Resources Ignasius Jonan due to this matter. Freeport gave 120 days for Indonesian government to solve this problems. They would complain and use its right in the international law agency.
