REPUBLIKA.CO.ID, JAKARTA -- At least thousands of workers from Confederation of Indonesian Workers Union (KSPI) have held demonstration to voice their aspirations related wage policy and tax amnesty program issued by the government.
The KSPI members protest against low wages. They asked the government to raise the minimum wage in 2017 amounted to Rp 650,000 nationally and revoke the Wage Regulation No. 78 which is contrary to Law No. 13 about labor.
"The government must also revoke Tax Amnesty Law because it's so discriminative," KSPI President, Said Iqbal said at the location on Thursday (9/29).
Around 10:30 am, the mass began moved to the horse statue. They hold rally to the Constitutional Court (MK), the Presidential Palace, the Supreme Court (MA), and the office of the corruption eradication commission (KPK). Their demonstration ended around 18.00 pm.
Previously, Deputy Jakarta Police chief Brig. Gen. Suntana estimated number of workers who gathered and demonstration amounted to about 15 thousand to 20 thousand people and gathered at City Hall and the parking lot national monument.
