Police bust Bandung based online prostitution racket

REPUBLIKA.CO.ID, BANDUNG -- West Java Police arrested two suspects who run online prostitution in a number of cities in Indonesia.

"Suspects offer prostitutes through social media with tariff from Rp 1.5 million to Rp 5 million," West Java Police spokesman Sr. Yusri Yunus told reporters in Bandung, West Java, on Thursday (1/9).

He said the case revealed by West Java's Special Criminal Investigation Department at a hotel in the Bandung City. Police have arrested two suspects, identified as NNU (25) as a resident of South Jakarta and MIR (21) from Bandung. One prostitute also has been arrested by police. 

Yusri explained, the two suspects run the business through Twitter account named 'Bandung Agency' @agencyladies which offering prostitutes to men. 

NNU and MIR asked their customer to pay Rp 500 thousand to Rp 1 million in advance. "The guest pay the rest of payment to the prostitute then the prostitutes pays commission to an assistant or agent as much as 30 percent," he said.

From the investigation, this account scattered in a number of big cities in Indonesia, include Bali, Jakarta, Bogor, Depok, Tangerang, and Bekasi. Then Malang City, Surabaya, Semarang, Jambi, Medan, Kalimantan, Purwokerto, and Yogyakarta. 

The police also seized evidence such as mobile phones, some passbook of BCA, ATM, BCA Passport, condoms, and lubricant. The suspects were charged Article 27, paragraph 1 in conjunction with Article 45, paragraph 1 of Law No. 11 of 2008 on the ITE, then Article 4 paragraph 2 in conjunction with Article 30 of Law No. 44 Year 2008 on Pornography.
