REPUBLIKA.CO.ID, SURABAYA -- The Indonesian Democratic Party of Struggle (PDIP) of the Surabaya chapter has not responded to several quarters' call for Surabaya Mayor Tri Rismaharini to run for Jakarta governorship in 2017.

"I believe Mrs. Risma will not do anything without an order from the party," chief of the party's branch Whisnu Sakti Buana who is also deputy Surabaya mayor said prior to a plenary session of the Surabaya city legislative assembly here on Wednesday.

It is fully the authority of the party's central executive board whether or not to nominate Risma for the Jakarta governorship in the 2017 election, Whisnu said.

"I don't know. What is clear is that right now Mrs. Risma and I are still committed to carrying out the people's mandate in the next five years. We still have time to develop Surabaya City," he said.

Asked if during the selection process, the party's central executive board will appoint Risma to run for the Jakarta governorship, Whisnu said he did not want to speculate on it.

Whisnu said he still learned much from Risma to build and lead the Surabaya city.

"I still learn from her. What is clear, we are looking forward to building Surabaya," he added.
